About Larry

A man walks into Larry Dozier’s office holding a square peg and a round hole. “Now what?” he asks. Larry takes one look and smiles. “No problem. We just need one of those new X-4 widgets and you’ll have this baby docking like the space station in no time.”

The square peg conundrum confronts us daily in one way or another. Whether it’s a routine scheduling problem - trying to figure out how to be two places at one time - or something more significant, like a career move or major investment, there is usually some wrinkle that has to be ironed out. Assessing a problem and coming up with a workable solution requires planning and experience, and the confidence to clearly see the end result sometimes eludes us. That’s when we look for help.

Larry Dozier has spent a lifetime solving problems. As a sales engineer for a major manufacturing company, Larry spent 35 years studying a customer’s unique need and spearheading the design and development of a specific product to meet that need. In that capacity, Larry played an intricate role in the development of some amazing mechanisms as diverse as weaponry for a defense contractor to the electronic drive behind the “Push” button on commercial ice machines.

A native of southern Ohio, Larry attended Ohio State University before serving his country as an Infantry officer in Viet Nam. When he came home, he put his degree in Agronomics to work by building golf courses and analyzing their inherent drainage problems. Larry parlayed his talent for problem solving into a career in engineering sales and development until his retirement nearly three years ago, when Larry announced to his wife, Carol, that his snow shovel was worn out and he never intended to buy another one. The decision was quickly made to leave the snowy midwest for the closer (and warmer) proximity to Larry’s daughter, Jen, and her family in Florida. The prospects of spending more time with his three young grandsons, plus year-round golf, made this decision a no-brainer for Larry and Carol. Larry also has a son, Ben, a former Army Ranger who served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Discovering St. Augustine was love at first sight, and the Doziers quickly bought a house and settled in. Over the years, Larry had often invested in real estate, buying and selling properties that he knew would bring a good return.
